Following on from recent years in Liverpool, Berlin & Madrid, sevens7 once again provided artist/band production & stage managers, ground transport manager and a VIP Talent Manager for the MTV EMA after show party held this year at The Europa Hotel, Belfast, straight after the main awards show. Additionally we also provided an event manager for the MTV UK after party, held at The Merchant Hotel.
The annual Oscars for the festival industry returned for 2011, taking place this year, for the very first time, at the Roundhouse in London. The daytime conference took place up the road in The Forum and hosted 800 delegates before the industry’s finest were recognised at the all important evening awards ceremony, designed and produced by sevens7.
After a last minute change of supplier Sevens7 IT were called in to provide a complete voice and data solution to the Ben & Jerry’s festival in both London and Manchester simultaneously. Used to delivering hi grade networks in unusual locations at short notice the Sevens7 IT team jumped to the challenge and got down to work.
As timescales were tight it was not going to be possible to use a traditional connectivity solution such as bonded DSL or ADSL2+ on one of our 2:1 ratio circuits. With this in mind the team decided to deliver the internet connection via hi-speed satellite broadband. Due to the speed of our V-Sat systems we were also able to provide a robust VOIP service giving the festival landlines in key areas such as production, artist liaison and the ELT.
Redundancy is always at the heart of any network we provide and Ben & Jerry’s needed a connection that would not fail. To ensure downtime was not going to be an issue we ran 2 x sat systems concurrently via different ISP’s which gave us the resilience we required in the unlikely event of one connection failing. Using our failover technology if any outage did occur the users would be unaware as the system automatically switches over to the working connection.
The phone and internet requirement was not just confined to the backstage/production area, with ticket booths and client areas also needing to get online we had to look at the best way of sending the connection across distances of up to 1km without compromising speed. To achieve this we employed our new radio point to point units which allow us to send our data network across vast distances safely and securely. As a result every area that requested it was provided with an 18mbps down/3mbps up service giving Ben & Jerry’s its fastest connection yet! Roll on 2012
So back to Dublin for Arthur’s Day 2011. For the second year running we provided an Artists Rep for MCD. This year we were at O’Donahue’s with a merry crowd toasting the black stuff and celebrating the legacy of Arthur Guinness with Bell X 1, A Plastic Rose & The Flaws.
Working on behalf of Loudsound, sevens7 provided an Event Manager, Site Manager & Sponsorship Manager for 2010 & 2011′s Tiesto, Underage, LED & Field Day festivals in London’s Victoria Park.
sevens7 provided production management services to Event Bars & Catering at this year’s Winter Wonderland held in London’s Hyde Park. Continuing the ongoing delivery of the infrastructure for EBC at their events, we installed the operation that runs throughout the festive from November 2011 – January 2012.
sevens7, on behalf of Jubba & Mischief PR, provided site management, production management & event management at both sites for the 2 day music festival on London’s Clapham Common & Manchester’s Heaton Park. This year was the first year the festival was held in two locations on the same weekend in July.
Continuing the MTV Push and CK one series of events which sevens7 were engaged to produce around the world we found ourselves, for the 2nd time this year, in Mexico City. As well as the added bonus of some May sunshine (30 degrees!) for ourselves, over 800 people enjoyed an incredible live performance by The Drums at Lunario, Auditorio Nacional. CK model Sky Ferreira also played to an excited, super cool, Mexico City crowd who showed that Tuesday nights are clearly the new Friday.
A special mention must go to our new friend and soon to be neighbour, Nolan, the band’s TM/foh engineer – a proper scholar, gent and oakland raiders fan…

Second stop on the MTV Push & ck one series of shows saw sevens7 in Beijing almost straight after the recent, hottest ticket in town, London affair. With grand designs to emulate that success the touring crew, alongside local production company Shine and MTV, got to work in Beijing. The headliner was US band Far East Movement who threw down all the hits for the 1200 strong international crowd of which I doubt has seen a show like it! Words alone can’t do it justice so check the link below to see for yourself. After probably the quickest load out in a few years (the Chinese are not short on manpower!), we found ourselves enjoying the after show and some building sized bottles of vodka, courtesy of the band.. Looking forward to catching up with you all at Wireless in London gents!

The final show and what a belter. We did not have the luxury of a venue used to this kind of production but all involved pulled together to see Bodi Bill and Hurts play a stormer to an intimate crowd of Berlin’s finest. MTV and ck one celebrated in style after what was an incredible mini world tour.
